SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service officially launched in Bangladesh on May 20, marking a significant milestone for the country’s internet sector.
The announcement was made on Starlink’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, confirming the start of operations.
“We have received confirmation of the launch, and it’s now official. Starlink will initially provide two residential packages: Starlink Residence, available at Tk6,000 per month, and Residence Lite, priced at Tk4,200 per month. Customers will also need to pay a one-time setup fee of Tk47,000 for installation,” stated Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, special assistant to the chief adviser.

These packages offer unlimited data with speeds of up to 300 Mbps, providing reliable high-speed connectivity in areas where traditional broadband services remain unavailable.
The introduction of Starlink in Bangladesh is expected to significantly enhance internet accessibility, particularly benefiting businesses, NGOs, freelancers, and entrepreneurs.
“This service offers a sustainable high-quality internet solution for premium users. It will also enable businesses to expand into regions lacking fast and reliable connectivity,” Taiyeb added.
The interim government has granted approval for Starlink to operate as a non-geostationary orbit satellite internet provider.
This decision aims to safeguard internet availability during periods of political unrest, following last year’s temporary internet suspensions amid protests.
With Starlink’s entry, Bangladesh moves toward a more resilient internet infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted high-speed access even in times of uncertainty.
