AMD set the gaming world ablaze with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, crowned as the best processor for gamers. As anticipated, AMD has now introduced two new powerhouses at CES 2025 – the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and 9950X3D. These latest CPUs are the most powerful gaming processors AMD has ever released, boasting 16 Zen 5 cores, a maximum boost frequency of 5.7 GHz, and a staggering 144 MB of 2nd-gen AMD V-Cache.
The New AMD Giants
With the launch of these processors, AMD now offers three X3D chips with V-Cache technology within the 9000 series. The lineup includes:
- Ryzen 7 9800X3D: Best value at a more reasonable price.
- Ryzen 9 9900X3D: Balances price and performance.
- Ryzen 9 9950X3D: The absolute best performance.
These chips support full DDR5 RAM and PCIe 5.0 via the AM5 platform, feature lower TDP ratings, and come with a massive cache.
Performance Powerhouses
The Ryzen 9 9900X3D, with four more physical cores and eight additional threads compared to the 9800X3D, maintains the same TDP of 120W, making it compatible with more affordable CPU coolers. It packs 140 MB of cache (35 MB more than the 9800X3D) and can boost up to 5.5 GHz for demanding games and software.
The Ryzen 9 9950X3D takes performance to the next level with its 16 cores, 5.7 GHz boost frequency, 144 MB of cache, and a TDP of 170W.
Availability and Pricing
The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D and 9950X3D are expected to hit stores in Q1 2025. Pricing details remain under wraps, but if history is any guide, the 9900X3D and 9950X3D might be priced around $599 and $699, respectively.
We’re excited to see how these new chips perform, especially in demanding titles when paired with capable GPUs.
